A short time after tidying, their space is a disorganized mess. This seems so simple that even a six-year-old should be able to do it. It involves putting things away where they belong. The act of tidying is a series of simple actions in which objects are moved from one place to another. It does, however, address why most people fail to stay tidy. The Japanese Art of Decluttering is not a simple technique. In part because when we get down to it, we just don’t know how to make those decisions between what to keep and what to throw away. I am not finished yet.estimated time to go through an entire house is 6 months but in less than a month I have gone through, my bedroom, closet, Gwyn's room, and the boys.the hall closets and started on my kitchen and pantry. This book has some asian philosophical aspects that are foreign to my sensibilities (like my socks feeling bad when I ball them up and flip over the top to keep them together or an inanimate object being "happy" when its with its like items) BUT and this is a huge BUT.man does it make a big difference (like over 20 bags of crap we don't use and counting) when I pull together everything in my house according to her list in then book, and look at the duplicates, items we don't use and just plain trash that we hoard that needs to be evacuated from my home. My lack of natural organization ability creates more work when I can't find something or trying to pull together parts of a whole. Wow, this has really changed my perspective and house! So, full disclosure, I am a freak out cleaner, meaning I clean/organize when things either really get on my nerves or I feel like I am not in control of something important which isn't really that often.I "clean" weekly but by nature I am a "whatever works is good with me" type of person.
